I think many of you will find this interesting, I know I did.
Inquirer.net (A trusted Philippine-based news site, affiliated with GMA channel 7) broke the news that Charice Pempengco will be "part of the [Glee] cast in a new season." Her manager here in the PH, Grace Mendoza confirmed this.
Here's a copy of the article:

MANILA, Philippines--The Philippines' pride, international pop star CharicePempengco, will soon join the cast of the award-winning American musical comedy-drama TV series "Glee."
In a TV interview at her Glorietta show on May 23, Pempengco herself hinted at "a surprise" that will surely make her fans happy. "Basta in na in posiyangayon," she said.
The quote set off the Internet abuzz with rumors, which zeroed in on the possibility of Pempengco appearing on "Glee" because the show's theme and the cast's age group fits her.
"Yes, it's true, Charice will soon join "Glee," her Philippine manager, Grace Mendoza, confirmed to the Inquirer. "And not just as a guest, but as part of the cast in a new season."
The popular TV show won the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series Musical or Comedy.
Pempengco's joining the "Glee" cast comes on the heels of her most recent triumph as the first Asian to break into the Top 10 of the Billboard album chart. Her self-titled US CD has debuted at No. 8 in its first week of release, selling 43,000 copies in America alone.
The album is at No. 4 in the Canadian music chart.

Idk... all this adding of characters is starting to worry me. The show already takes enough criticism from what I've seen for trying to balance so many story lines at the same time.

I just feel like Glee has enough to work with as it is, and they're overlooking some of it to add newer, flashier stuff.

As much as it pains me to admit it I have to agree. Shame because I really like the show... so far I think they've handled it alright but if they keep adding more and more the show is going to become a joke and I don't want it to go that route.
I know I'm being a bit hypocritical because I want Jesse to stay next season (Jon Groff is insanely talented!) and I would like to see more of NHP & Idina next season along with Harry Shum Jr., but I think they need to know when to stop. Just because the show is popular doesn't mean they have to please everyone. I loved the Madonna ep and I'm looking forward to the Gaga one but that doesn't mean I think they should do one for every pop star out there. As long as it ties with the story line then I'm ok with it. I guess I'm just worried that they're looking to fit the story lines with the gimmicky themed episodes at this point and not the other way around. If anything they should be used sporadically to enhance the story lines, not become over saturated with them.
And btw this isn't a rant against Charice, I've never heard of her but I'm sure she's very talented. I'm just worried as a fan of the show because I've become a little disillusioned with it as of late.
Oh and the overproduced songs are really getting to me too... I want more ala "Poker Face" please! These people have great voices! No need to work them up so much!
*ahem*
/end rant

After this she went on Ellen, Oprah, sang with Andrea Bocelli, Celine Dion, shared the stage with Josh Groban, Michael Buble, etc. She's AWESOME

Honestly just because she'll be a part of the cast, doesn't mean that everyone else will get shoved aside, nor will it mean that she'll get big subplots. I think we should be happy for her, since she's talented and it's a big opportunity, not bitch and moan about what we haven't seen yet.
Besides, I'm pretty sure Harry will be getting screentime in season 2, according to what he said in an interview.
